The Bigger Picture
Meta has been ramping up investments in AI for years, aiming to bring 1GW of computing power online in 2025.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg is pushing to make Meta AI—the company’s chatbot—the most widely used AI assistant globally by the end of the year. The company is also betting on its open-source large language model, Llama, to establish itself as a dominant player in AI.
Apollo’s Growing Holdings
Meanwhile, Apollo has been active in real estate investment beyond its talks with Meta.
This week, the firm announced a $1.5B all-stock acquisition of Bridge Investment Group, a deal expected to close in Q3 2025. The acquisition aligns with Apollo’s strategy to expand its CRE originations business.
Looking Ahead
While the financing deal is not yet finalized, Meta’s plans highlight the increasing demand for data center infrastructure to support AI-driven growth.
If completed, the project would be one of the largest data center investments to date, positioning Meta at the forefront of AI innovation.
